Goanna Golf At Point Walter
Top of the wozza is the newest addition to Perth’s mini golf scene – Point Walter’s Goanna Golf. Having had a little gander ourselves just the other day we can confirm the million dollar course is seriously epic. Incredible landscaping and a mix of natural and wacky hazards will challenge even the clubhouse pros.
Wembley Golf Course
As far as top tier, open air mini golf goes it’s hard to go past the epic layout at Wembley Golf Course. The 18-hole, beautifully landscaped course is a true representation of a miniature version of a full-size golf course, and heaps of fun. Featuring sand traps, bridges, water features and more, it’ll keep you busy for a good couple of hours.
Holey Moley
Who woulda thunk it – booze + mini golf? Operating across several venues at Westfield Carousel, Northbridge, Karrinyup and Fremantle (coming soon), Holey Moley’s kitchy, pop culture-smattered holes are a tonne of fun, especially after a cocktail or two. At Westfield you can then turn your attention to Strike Bowling, while at Northbridge it’s on to the Caddyshack Bar and a for beers and bites.
Glowing Rooms
Taking mini golf to even stranger new realms, Glowing Rooms south of Freo are here to freak you the heck out! Surrounded by intense colours, ultraviolet light and hand-painted artworks, work your way through the course wearing special 3D glasses and try not to lose your marbles (or ball). From golf balls hovering above ground to animals, characters and iconic Aussie landmarks coming out of the walls, it’s an absolute trip.
Wanneroo Botanic Golf
Set amidst the lush surrounds of the Wanneroo Botanic Gardens, their 36-hole mini golf offering is the largest outdoor course in Australia. They also offer “billiard” style mini golf (just like playing pool), and outside of daytime golf from Thursday to Sunday, you can pick up a light-up LED golf ball and play at night.
Oasis Supa Golf / Adventure Putt
If you’re looking for the best of both worlds look no further than Oasis Supa Golf in the Swan Valley. Supa Golf is a modified version of normal golf, with huge plastic clubs and balls on a shortened course, while their Adventure Putt course is set amongst a lush, jungle oasis and is up there with Wembley and Point Walter in terms of quality.
The Vines
Western Australia’s premiere golfing resort comes with a premiere 18-hole mini golf course. No bookings are required, and they even run a mini golf league for the keener beans out there. The layout is in a more traditional golf course layout, and the café will sort you out with some decent food before/after.
Chillisaurus Mini Golf
There are some strange options on this list, but a mini golf course paying tribute to a dinosaur called a Chillisaurus? Now we’ve seen it all. The 18 hole Chillisaurus Mini Golf course in Merriwa sees you hitting balls at the feet of glow-in-the-dark giants of all shapes and sizes. It’s very weird and very wonderful, although sadly they are remaining closed until COVID-19 restrictions fully ease (follow their Facebook for updates).
Murdoch Pines
Murdoch Pines golf park in North Lake comes with a splendid 18-hole mini golf course great for families. The course isn’t super challenging, and will only set kids under 13 back $7 or $12 for over.
Masonmill Gardens
Part of the Masonmill Gardens precinct in Carmel, 20 minutes out of Perth, there’s plenty here to make a day of it. Alongside the cruisy 18 hole putt putt course there’s a café and bar, along with an expansive Irish Village Beer Garden if you need to drown your sorrows follow one too many bogies!
Rottnest Island
Alright we said 10 but it’d be remiss of us not to throw a little shout-out to one of WA’s favourite and longest-standing mini golf courses at Rottnest Island (Wadjemup). Sure it’s been there forever and perhaps seen better days, but if you can pull yourself away from the beach for 10 minutes it’s a good bit of fun nonetheless.
