Remedy
Open since 2001, Remedy is one of the OGs. A beautifully curated collection of both local and international designers, with a focus on minimal packaging and a “buy less, buy better” ethos. You’ll find classics like Aesop skincare, Kip & Co. bedding, David Shrigley tea towels and more – perfect for a more considered gift.
Compendium
A super concise collection of products for your most design-loving friend. With products like German designed Kaweco stationery, Melbourne designed Aark timepieces and a top-shelf selection of magazines (think Cereal, Magazine B, Kinfolk and Fabric), this is the ultimate in sophistication. If you’re stuck for ideas, check out their online store for curated gift guides.
Merchants of Swanbourne
If you can think of it, Merchants of Swanbourne have it. Our go-to one-stop shop for gifts, the store is a multi-level overload of goodness, ranging from kitchenware to party accessories, picnicware, gardening, homewares, jewellery, clothing, beauty and kids toys and apparel – all at reasonable prices. It might sound like a lot at first, but stock is cleverly arranged room-by-room, making for easy browsing. And as a real bonus – they also have a second location in South Perth!
La Luna
A treasure trove of wares for your dreamiest friend, La Luna is a jewel on the Inglewood strip. Stocking beauty, homewares, art and books, this is the perfect spot to pick up something pretty. Looking for on-trend jewellery but on a budget? La Luna has an amazing range of jewellery that won’t break the bank, so you can treat your bestie to something sparkly.
William Topp
Another OG on the gift store scene, William Topp is home to beautifully quirky local and international designs. Special mention has to go to Tasmanian hand made leather goods by Henk Berg, as well as the cutest ceramic animals by Melbourne-based Min Pin. Dapper chaps will be sorted with their German-made brushes and artisan, small-batch shaving soap from Australian Private Reserve. Why not make an afternoon of it and stop by Billy Van Creamy next door for a scoop, or a glass of natty at neighbour Wines of While?
ZERO Store
Australia’s largest plastic-free and zero waste store, ZERO has you covered with gifts that aren’t just sustainable, but beautifully designed. Whether you’re gifting to an aficionado or they’re new to waste minimising, ZERO has everything from reusable cutlery and food storage to toiletries, cleaning, beauty, children’s products and more. Their well-stocked bulk bar has an amazing range of both ready made products and ingredients to make your own cleaning, beauty or personal care products, as well as some tasty vegan treats. ZERO is the ultimate proof that living sustainably can still be stylish.
Ruck Rover General Store
Forget minimalism, Ruck Rover is about colours, patterns and sparkle. Open since 2006, the store is home to a huge collection of not just vintage-inspired clothing, but also homewares, kids’ books and stationery. Stock up on some Bon Lux candles to get your house smelling divine, or some floral cookware to inject your kitchen with some vintage vibes. Or if someone needs a bit of bling loud enough to match their personality, you can’t go past a pair of Martha Jean acrylic earrings. If you’re stuck at your desk, hop onto their technicolour online store where they offer free gift wrapping and gift messages so you can have your purchases sent directly to your loved one – nifty!
FOUND at Fremantle Arts Centre
Art gallery and museum gift shops get a pretty bad wrap, generally – often filled with overpriced stuff you can get anywhere. Not at FOUND! Instead, it’s packed to the brim with unique wares from local jewellers, textile designers, potters, woodworkers and other artists. Whether its minimalist jarrah spice grinder from timber artisan Mark Nagtzaam, a stunning silk scarf from Many Peaks Assembly, or a hand dyed and woven vessel by basketry artist Siân Boucherd – the store truly showcases some of the groundbreaking artisans WA has to offer.
Daisy & Rowe
Cute as a button is what comes to mind when we are in Daisy and Rowe. The Maylands store is home to a super-sweet selection of homewares, plants, books and accessories that will warm even the coldest of hearts (guilty). Even if your style isn’t quite so saccharine, they have plenty of gifts for every taste, like candles from Bunbury locals Ryan + Co., who create chic candles using repurposed beer and wine bottles, or get your mates picnic-ready with a Somewhere Co. picnic rug and a Finska set.
The Good Store
Just like what it says on the tin, the Good Store is jam-packed with good stuff – stuff that’s useful, beautifully designed and made to last. Think cult favourites like Mondaine timepieces, Orbitkey key rings, Blunt umbrellas, Kinto drinkware or Raawi ceramics are just the tip of the iceberg.
Ware Gifts
Tucked away down a Mount Lawley arcade, Ware is, pardon us, where you ought to go. With goodies for every age and interest, from homewares to gardening to fashion and kids, they’ll have you sorted for all your gift-giving needs… plus a few bits and pieces for yourself, of course. (Make sure to grab a Bossman coffee on the way out, too.)
Angove Street Collective
Ever-evolving concept store Angove Street Collective will have you dreaming of your most stylish, bougie life – with homewares, furniture and art that’ll take your breath away. As well as those big-ticket items, they also have a collection of homewares, gifts and fashion to make someone feel super special, and super chic.
Spoilt At Subi
While Spoilt may be pretty pint-sized, their selection rivals anyone on the list. Another personal go-to of ours, they’ve got everything from polished-yet-carefree fashion, the cutest baby apparel and toys, creative kid’s games, to sweet and stylish homewares.
Corner Store
Everything cute, everything sweet, everything vintage-inspired… that’s Corner Store. This long-running Freo fave has got the lock on charming bits and bobs – from tiny trinkets all the way up to furniture to transform your house into a fairytale vision.
